Slingshots Now Off the Schedule for Linda's Speedway October 9 Event
- The Linda's Speedway will now drop the Slingshot division from the Friday, October 9 program. The 2009
points are now final as the only event that remains on the Linda's Speedway schedule for the Slingshots will be a non point event on Friday,
October 23 in the running of what could very be the last Slingshot 50. The Slingshots were not on the October 9 schedule from the start but after a rain out on Friday October 2 and everyone had purchased a pit pass and car entry the decision was made to drop the 125cc Micro Sprints, Sportsman and 250 4 Stoke Micro Sprints from the October 9 show and add the Slingshots. The Slingshots will be at the Paradise Speedway in New York on Saturday, October 10 and many of the teams expressed an interest in not racing on Friday night. Arm band pit passes from October 2 will be honored on Friday, October 23 for the Slingshot 50 but must pay an additional $2. The $16 car entry paid on Friday October 2 will be refunded on October 23 at the pit office. Kyle Hieber is the 2009 Linda's Speedway Slingshot track champion as he ended the season with 2115 with second place Mike Glass with 2035. Gary Hieber, Chuck Whary and Alex Schoffstall round out the top five. The Friday October 9 show will now feature a two division show of 600cc and 270cc Micro Sprints as they will battle it out in the 11th Annual Steve Buch Memorial paying $600 to win. The Xcel 600 Modified and the Linda's Speedway Chargers are also invited for several rounds of hot lap sessions as they prepare for a big make up race to be held this Saturday, October 10. The Saturday show will consist of time trials, heat races "B" Mains and a 50 lap feature for the 600 Modified paying $1000 to win and a 25 lap Charger feature paying at least $300 to win. Any type Micro Sprint will also be invited to take part in several rounds of hot lap sessions throughout the program.
Friday and Saturday, October 16-17 will feature the 20th Annual Micro Sprint Nationals and will feature time trials for both 270cc and 600cc Micro Sprints on Friday night plus the Lias Tire/American Racer sponsored 270cc Race Of Champions paying $600 to win. Already registered for the Race Of Champions is Mike Rutherford from the Linda's Speedway, Ross Perchak from the Kutztown Fairgrounds Speedway, Sean Stolz from Greenwood Valley Action Track, Mike Himes from Deerfield Raceway, Richie Hartman from Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway, Matt Gardina from Blanket Hill Speedway, Matt Nulph from Sportsman Speedway, Kevin Ward from Paradise Speedway, Mike Schuckers from Clinton County Raceway, JT Knight from Middleford Speedway, Jordan Tittle from Wyalusing Valley Motorsports Park, Brittany Trogdon from Hammerdown Speedway and from the Airport Speedway 250 stock class, Alex Swift and from the 250 open class, Ken Andreas. The Saturday event will feature qualifying heat races, "C" Mains, "B" Mains and 40 lap "A" Mains paying $3000 to win plus lap money.
The 2009 season closer is scheduled for Friday, October 23 with the Slingshot 50 plus the 270cc and 600cc Micro Sprints with a rain date of Saturday, October 24.
