Pottstown,Pa.'s Timmy Buckwalter #25S scored his second consecutive feature win at the Screven Motorsports Complex during the Florida Mini Sprint Associations venue of the 3rd annual "Winterfreeze" in Slyvania,Georgia.
The two wins are important not only for the prestige of dominating the inaugural running at "Winterfreeze" as far as the F.M.S.A. is concerned but it also gives Buckwalter momentum heading into the "Winternationals" for the Florida Mini Sprint Association at Eastbay Raceway Park in Tampa, Florida in less than two weeks [Feb.20th-23rd] giving Buckwalter a chance to take the "Winternationals" title which was won last year by Jim Young #8Y also from Pennslyvania.
Four heat races were first on the program for the F.M.S.A. at Screven Motorsports Complex Saturday night and in heat one Pa.'s Brian Carber showed that he might stop Buckwalter in his tracks by winning.
Heat two Timmy Buckwalter #25s had other thoughts though as he laid claim to victory.
Heat three North Carolina's Justin Lineman #54 picked up where he left off the night before and garnered a victory.
Heat four the Florida Mini Sprint Association showed their strength and the "Marco Island Missile" 14 year old Nicholas Snyder #116 from Marco Island ,Florida easily won his heat.
A B-main race was required to fill out the field and was won by USCS star Mike Magic in his #5M machine.
At the drop of the green it was Buckwalter #25S,Carber#71,Jim Young #8Y of Johnstown,Pa. and Jacksonville,Florida's Gavin Thomas #7 in the famed XXX chassis Jesse James Demolition entry setting the pace as all wanted to lead swapping positions in every turn.
On lap 4 the melee started as Jacksonville,Florida's "Kat" Thomas #14K and Mike Magic's #5M flipped violently down the front stretch, end over end ending up in turn one requiring a red flag situation. Both drivers emerged unhurt after some time helping Katherine from her mini sprint with Katherine Thomas having a sore knee from hitting the steering wheel. Also involved in the incident were Mount Airy,N.C.'s Chuck Puckett #6P Orlando,Florida,s Jody McKenzie #18 and Lancaster,N.Y.'s Dane Loreng who at 13 years old made his first "Winter Series" appearance. All were out of competition for the night with Magic and Thomas suffering heavy damage.
On the restart it would be the same quartet fighting for the lead with Justin Lineman #54 and N.C.'s Coby Adams #28 trying to join in Deland,Florida's Eddie Moss Jr.#8 and Nicholas Snyder #116 working their way thru the pack.
Lap 9 and Savannah,Georgia's Ron Bishop would tangle losing a left rear wheel and in turn four the #116 of Nicholas Snyder would "clobber" the wall sending him also flipping end over end and doing severe damage to the Walter Arnold Motorsports entry. he emerged unscathed but extremely dissappointed after charging up thru the field.
After several more cautions for minor spins and the race was shortened to a green, white, checkered finish after 18 laps and those three laps were something else.
Buckwalter had a three car advantage but Gavin Thomas #7,Brian Carber #71,Justin Lineman #54,Jim Young #8Y,Coby Adams #28 and Eddie Moss Jr. #8 would "Put on the show' as all of them wanted a second or third place finish and after a two and three wide battle ended up in that order.
The "Showtime Tour" continues at Eastbay Raceway Park on February 20th and you won't want to miss the action.
