Steven Ellement has won an incident packed WA Formula 500 title in front of a huge crowd at Northam Motorsport Park last Saturday night.
Ellement makes it two titles on the trot and continues his top form this season. Second place went the way of fast finishing Ben Mcleod who came from back in the field followed by Trevor Harding Jnr and Daniel Harding in fourth

Heat races went the way of David Sinagra, Victorian Leigh van Ginneken, Daniel Harding, Chris Dymock, Trevor Harding (2 Heats) , Wayne Dymock, Steven Ellement and Steven Gay. The B Main became a race long battle between Bryan Mullings, Cody Turacchio and Phil Crofts. The veteran Mullings held a comfortable buffer throughout the race before being challenged by Turacchio and then Crofts who came from the clouds. They all diced for several laps with Turacchio the eventual winner from Mullings then Crofts. The other transfer spot going to newcomer Jamie Sims.

Several accidents marred the final including “Wild” Bill Richards contacting the back straight wall at high speed then being collected by passing cars late race. Tim Winters tasted concrete coming onto the main straight making hard contact with the fence also on a very dry dusty surface. Bryan Mullings was another unlucky victim slamming into a spinning Brad Warwick resulting in heavy damage to the WA#68 who then ended up on his side in the encounter.

We now look forward to Kalgoorlie International Speedway on the 30th January. The 600kms trek was well worth it last season and should be one of the best meetings of the West Coast Series this year.
