Eddie Moss Wins After Late Pass
26 of some of the best "ultra bullets" of the FMSA signed in to the pit shack at Bubba
Raceway Park in Ocala , Florida
Saturday night [July 27th] for a non-points show and you just knew the night was going
to be wild on a "challenging" track surface with some hungry drivers that hadn't been
in their "potent rockets" since Independance weekend.
4 heat races were run to qualify the mixed bag of racers some with new cars debuting
them on this night. Collin Cabre would be there running two separate racers for Moss
Racing and several new drivers joining the FMSA and new cars made for a night of a
"thousand questions" on who would be the victor on this night.
The first heat saw Orange Springs , Florida resident John Kahl #13 win and set the
pace for the night as heat two was quick to come on the track with "The Marco Island
Missile" Nicholas Snyder #116 making a statement that he was the one to watch on
Sheldon Kinser Jr. #56Jr. made his return to the FMSA after a two month absence and
he served notice that he wants to finish out the 2013 season with a feature win under
his belt before it is over with a victory in heat three.
Dirk Miller while chasing points for a Championship in 2013 let it be known that on this
night of no points all bets were off as he captured the win in heat four.
Feature time saw the now famous and crowd pleasing "FMSA Four Wide Salute To
The Fans" pulled off without a hitch and next order of business was the drop of the
green and a tough time of completing lap 1 as two cautions flew before the second lap
was completed the first for a stalled Daniel Bagley #12B on the front stretch and a
tangle between Nicholas Snyder #116 and #59 of the first night debut of Austin
Kurjack and the second caution for the 4 or 5 barrel rolls of Connor Borah #29
while leading before getting into trouble with another car.
On the restart David Hall #67 would show the way and looked like he could be on his
way to his first feature win before the third caution for the night would appear,
bunching up the field and on the next restart Tampa , Florida's Chase Cabre #39
would challenge Hall and they raced side by side for two laps fighting for the lead
before Cabre would take command.
With a track surface not favorable for the smaller mini sprints attrition started to show
it's "ugly head" as the infield showed about 8 cars sitting helplessly done for the night.
The battle ensued with now Cabre leading but 2012 Champion Eddie Moss #8 wanting
a piece of the lead while Nicholas Snyder #116 had worked his way back up from the
rear of the field and hounded Cabre until his top wing "disengrated" flying apart
putting him out.
On every lap Moss continued dogging Cabre chasing him down and with two to go
Cabre suddenly broke a left rear bird cage assembly ending his lead and his night
with Moss going on for the win and Johnny Crowder flipping his new HYPER chassis
mounted racer in turn two while Eddie came across the line for the win and John Kahl
#13 coming home second , David Hall #67 third , Austin Craddock #71 in fourth and
John Moss #44 in fifth.
Next week's action finds the FMSA moving their 2013 "Showtime Tour" to the North
Florida Speedway in Lake City , Florida August 3rd and then again on August 17th
and over 30 of the best in the southeast are expected with many new drivers making
debuts in the next few weeks.
