The “Superstars Of MicroStock Racing” will return to Borgers speedway for their second appearance of the MSRS tour. The April 27 MSRS event saw 20 cars take the green flag and additional entries are expected for this Saturday’s race. A special early practice session will be held for the MicroStocks only from 11:00 to 11:30 a.m. followed by a 12:45 p.m. drivers meeting for all divisions and open practice for all divisions at 1:00 p.m. with heats starting at 2:00 p.m. The MicroStocks will run their normal qualifying format but a special time trial session will be run for those MicroStocks wishing to participate. The time trials will be for fun only and have nothing to do with qualifying. A special Borgers Speedway Fast Time Plaque and a $50 Visa Gift Card will be awarded to the driver with fast time. We will run duel heats for the TQ/Asphalt 600 Sprints this Saturday. A pill draw will be used for the first heat starting order and the finish of the first heat will be inverted for the start of the second heat. An average of the two heats will determine the starting order for the feature event. During a meeting Monday night with Gary Conkling, owner of Green Flag Driving Experience, plans were discussed for our October 5 TQ “Supershow” “Rumble On The Ridge” which is slated to be one of the biggest shows in the history of Three Quarter Midget racing. Discussing tire wear on asphalt Gary commented “on our car we raced with the same tires at Mahoning, Mountain, and Borgers and were competitive running with the leaders at Borgers and still had life left on the tires.” Promoter Bob Snyder, “a big concern with racers running on asphalt is tire wear and that is rightfully so. At Borgers tire wear has not been an issue and many dirt tracks are burning up right side tires a three times the rate as Borgers is on asphalt.” Genereal Manager/CEO Brendan O’Connor, “we were thrilled and pleased by the performance ATQMRA put on at our first ever sanctioned event on May 4. We had side by side and wheel to wheel racing for the lead and throughout the pack. Drivers came from the rear numerous times to the front and the racing was awesome. At any given time a number of drivers were in contention for the win. Now with moving the infield tires in will give us another lane of racing and it will only get better.” We have secured sponsorship from SPL/S&W Fuel owner Stan Rauktis for the Champ Kart King Of The Asphalt Race 3 slated for June 25. Details on the SPL sponsorship will be released shortly. Penny-Wise Fuel Co., Tony Power Kart Supply, Silfee Service, andDanny’s Small Engine Repair of Hatboro, Pa., King Of The Asphalt Race 2 rained out last week will be rescheduled at a date to be announced. There are many things in the works for Borgers Speedway too numerous to mention. As plans are finalized expect to see very exciting news to be coming on a regular basis. “Rome Was Not Built In A Day” but the “Reconstructing Of Rome” is moving ahead at a rapid pace. I have been with Borgers Speedway since day one in 1999 and even I could never of imagined what is taking place. Under the leadership of Brendan O’Connor Borgers Speedway will become the “Number One” 1/7 Mile Asphalt Speedway in the world. Plan to be part of “History In The Making” at Borgers Super Speedway in good ole Saylorsburg, Pa.
