Swedesboro, NJ (January 22, 2012) – After taking over the reins at Bridgeport Speedway only two weeks ago, new promoter Doug Hoffman completed Motorsports 2012 on Sunday January 22 with a smile on his face. “I really believe we generated some excitement and electricity about Bridgeport. I kinda feel like we hit it out of the park this weekend,” stated Hoffman.
After being on the main stage at Motorsports 2012 on Friday evening, Hoffman spent the rest of the time at the show speaking with racers, sponsors and fans about his plans for the upcoming season. At the Bridgeport Speedway booth, pit licenses and parking spots were selling at a very brisk pace. Tentative schedules for 2012 were distributed to all with opening day slated for March 31 on the 5/8th mile oval. The 2012 lidlifter will feature a 60-lap Race of Champions race for the Big Block Modifieds along with the Crate Modifieds and Outlaw Stocks. This opening event will also be the first hand of the Poker Series for the Big Block Modifieds. The Poker Series for the Big Block Modifieds will consist of five 60-lap events with the winner of each race receiving an Ace, the runner-up grabbing a King and so on until a deuce is granted to the thirteenth place finisher. At the end of the series, the driver with the best poker hand will win $2500. In addition, a Crate Modified Poker Series is set to be held during the year as well with the first of the five events slated for Saturday, April 28.
To answer further questions, Hoffman has scheduled meetings on Saturday, January 28 for owners and drivers at the Holiday Inn in Swedesboro, NJ. Following a 10:00 a.m. meeting with employees, Saturday night teams will meet at Noon with Friday night drivers and owners convening at 3:00 p.m.
