Dietz in Victory Lane :: © 2010 Photofinishing Station Hanover, PA (08/28/10) – Chase Dietz claimed his second win of his young career in the 20-lap 600cc Micro Sprint feature Saturday night at Trail-Way Speedway.

Polesitter JD Harman grabbed the lead on the start, but was slowed when Isaac Sneeringer flipped in turns one and two of the first lap.  Harman once again grabbed the lead on the restart with third starting Dietz falling in line behind him.  The caution flag came out on the 9th lap when contact was made between Josh Mehring and Dwayne Gutshall causing Mehring to stop in turns three and four.  Mehring was unable to continue and retired to the pits.

“I was getting good in [turns] one and two going in, and then the red came out.” explained Dietz of the lap 12 incident involving Skylar Felkner.  Felkner flipped over the wall and through the catch fence in turns 3 and 4.  Felkner was uninjured in the crash, but unable to continue the race.

Prior to the red flag, Dietz had been slowly reeling in race long leader Harman.  Dietz made a pass for the lead inside Harman in turn one of lap twelve, but the lap did not count and Dietz was put back to second.

When the race was restarted, Harman pulled away from Dietz.  But Dietz closed the gap and made the race winning pass on the inside of Harman in turn 2 of the 18th lap.  Dietz lead the final three laps to claim his second win of his rookie season by 2 seconds over Harman.

Travis Scott crossed the line third with Dwayne Gutshall and Jimmy Brookens completing the top five.  Brookens extended his point lead over Isaac Sneeringer with his top 5 finish.

Sixth through tenth were Kody Lehman, Jim Young, Shane Hoff, Kyle Ganoe and Ron Crossley.  Heat winners for the 22 600cc Micro Sprints were JD Harman and Travis Scott.

Cox in Victory Lane :: © 2010 Photofinishing station “This is unbelievable, I wanted to change [the car], but my dad said not to.  So we didn’t.  Tomorrow is his birthday, so happy birthday dad!” exclaimed a very excited Steven Cox after exiting his Windsor Electric Company sponsored #58 in victory lane.

Eric Heath started outside the front row and grabbed the lead on the start of the 20-lap 270cc Micro Sprint feature event.  Cox, who started fourth, followed Heath over the first half of the race.  The caution flew on the 11th lap for Angela Caruso who stopped in turn four.

Heath and Cox were side-by-side at the line on lap thirteen and Cox made the race winning pass exiting turn two of the next lap.  Cox drove away and lapped several cars en route to his second career 270cc Micro win.

Chris Melton finished second with 2010 270cc Micro Sprint Track Champion Nik Gower third.  Bill Laughman battled from the rear of the field after bringing out the caution on the first lap to finish fourth.  Brian Marriott rounded out the top five.  Sixth through tenth were Dave Schreiber, Heath, Steve Daron, Darren Schott II and Dalton Dietrich.

Heat winners for the 21 270cc Micro Sprints were Steven Cox and Jim Still.
