Raceseng designed and developed the PROPER FLOW water pump cover after recognizing an immediate need within the 600 racing market. The 600-636 kawasaki owners have the infamous issue of dealing with their water pump cover. The first issue is the orientation of the stock covers inlet radiator port. It points straight down which is directly above the lower engine frame rail and right next to the engine header. This creates three problems:
1 | Getting the inlet radiator line on is nearly impossible and if you do manage to get the line on it will have a kink in the tubing creating restricted water flow.
2 | The inlet radiator line which is delivering cold water into the motor is running right next to the header. All of the heat which is generated by the header is being distributed to the inlet radiator line, increasing the temperature of the water before it enters the pump cover.
3 | The typical solution for this problem is to cut and weld the stock die cast cover. The problem with this is that the intended water flow geometry of the pump is ruined creating disturbances with the water and restricting water flow. The harder the water pump has to work to push water through the system, the more power its robbing from your motor.
The Raceseng PROPER FLOW water pump cover is a CNC machined billet aluminum cover with a sculpturally machined internal water cavity. The existing kawasaki water pump cover was reverse engineered to make sure the PROPER FLOW cavity is identical. The key to the PROPER FLOW cover is that it enables you to use a full flow 3/4” NPT AN fitting that is placed directly above the water pump cover impellor. This design optimizes the water flow geometry and allows you to run your inlet radiator line around the front or back of the motor. It keeps the cold inlet water away from the heat of the headers and creates PROPER FLOW. The PROPER FLOW cover is legal according to the universal 600 micro sprint engine rules. To ease installation the cover is a complete bolt on application. It reuses your existing bolting hardware, o-ring, upper radiator hose and hose clamp.
For those running 1” radiator line we suggest using Hyper Racing's 3/4” NPT to 1” barbed elbow (part number 816-023).
For those running 3/4” radiator line we suggest using a full flow NPT hose end swivel fitting (jegs part number 799-612140)
